The song Arsenal sang before kick-off vs Man City at Emirates Stadium after Mikel Arteta plea
Arsenal have continued to build a reputation of making the Emirates Stadium a difficult place for teams to come in the past few years. The Gunners' upwards trajectory under Mikel Arteta has been helped by the atmosphere in north London. This season, Arsenal have defeated PSV Eindhoven, Nottingham Forest and Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium, with Fulham and Tottenham snatching a point.
Last term, only Manchester City and Brighton - twice - won at the home of the Gunners with clubs finding it difficult to visit N7 under Arteta. In recent months, attempts have been made to increase the atmosphere inside the ground to create a hostile environment for players.
However, the introduction of Louis Dunford's 'The Angel' has added a warm touch to the matchday experience for supporters. The song was played for the first time in May 2022 after going viral online and is now blasted around the Emirates Stadium just minutes before kick-off.
When the sound became popular with supporters, Arteta encouraged the club to 'push' more fan involvement moving forwards. "I have had thousands and thousands of requests from all of our supporters to go and do something about it ('The Angel'). We want to listen to them, it's great," he said.
