In a heartfelt announcement last March, Bruce Willis's family revealed his decision to step away from acting due to an initial diagnosis of aphasia. However, nearly a year later, a more specific diagnosis emerged, indicating that Willis was battling frontotemporal dementia (FTD). This revelation has sparked a journey of change and reflection in the lives of both Willis and his loved ones.

Throughout the past year, the Willis family has provided glimpses into their shared experiences and cherished moments. They celebrated Bruce's 68th birthday, bringing together a unique blend of his two families – his ex-wife, Demi Moore, and their three children, Scout, Rumer, and Tallulah, as well as his current wife, Emma Heming Willis, and their two children, Mabel and Evelyn.

In a surprising turn of events, Bruce's late-1980s ABC series, "Moonlighting," has now become available for streaming on Hulu. The show, which Bruce co-starred in alongside Cybill Shepherd, was known for its will-they-or-won't-they dynamic, and its arrival on a streaming platform was something that Bruce eagerly anticipated. Glenn Gordon Caron, the creator of "Moonlighting," revealed the challenges they faced in getting the show on Hulu, given the progressive nature of Bruce's disease. However, Caron's efforts were driven by a desire to honor Bruce's wishes. "I know it means a lot to him," Caron expressed.

Caron further emphasized the importance of staying connected with Bruce's family, particularly as colleagues on the sets of his most recent films had expressed concerns about his well-being even before his diagnosis. "I have tried very hard to stay in his life," Caron stated. He also shared his perspective on the profound impact of FTD on Bruce, describing it as if he now views life through a screen door. Despite these challenges, Caron believes that Bruce can still recognize him, at least during the initial minutes of their interactions. He highlighted the loss of Bruce's once-keen verbal and reading skills but underlined that the core of Bruce's identity remains intact. "When you're with him, you know that he's Bruce, and you're grateful that he's there, but the joie de vivre is gone," Caron lamented.

Emma Heming Willis, Bruce's dedicated partner since 2009, shared her own update during World Frontotemporal Dementia Awareness week. She acknowledged the difficulties her family faces in dealing with Bruce's condition but also emphasized the importance of finding beauty in the midst of sorrow. Heming Willis stressed her commitment to embracing joy, as she believes Bruce would want it that way for her and their family. Their journey is one marked by love, resilience, and a determination to find moments of happiness amidst life's challenges.
